CFC is Coming to El Camino College

For student parents, finding child care they can count on and afford can stand between them and a college degree. Roughly 69,000 college aid applicants in LA County are raising children. Now, CFC is meeting parents where they take classes.

CFC's newest community office is open inside the Social Justice Center at El Camino College (ECC) in Torrance. Between classes, student parents can sit down with CFC staff for free one-on-one help to search for licensed child care centers, family child care homes, and preschools across the South Bay that fit their children's ages, family budgets, and parents’ class schedules. CFC staff help parents find out whether they qualify for child care tuition assistance and connect them to CFC Family Engagement programs like Parent Cafés and Family Time.

"Access to child care and parenting support is a basic need, and CFC is helping ECC provide these vital resources for our parenting community," said Cynthia Cervantes, Early Childhood Education faculty at ECC.

The office is open to the whole community, not just students. Services are free, no appointment, campus ID, or referral is needed.

On-campus hours: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, 1 to 5 p.m. | 2nd Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: El Camino College, Social Justice Center, 16007 Crenshaw Blvd., Torrance, CA 90506

A grand opening celebration is coming soon, with ribbon cutting, family-friendly activities, and a chance to meet the CFC team. Watch your inbox for the date.
