"To receive this support now, nearly four months later, is more than financial relief. It’s proof that we haven’t been forgotten—that we are still in the hearts and minds of those who care. Thank you, Connections for Children, for seeing us and reminding us that we’re not alone.” - CFC Parent Impacted by the Wildfires
In January 2025, devastation swept across Los Angeles as an unprecedented firestorm shocked people’s homes, businesses, and neighborhood. The rapidly spreading wildfire left many families and child care providers displaced, leaving a long and difficult road to recovery.
Serving more than 11% of the Los Angeles County population, Connections for Children (CFC) continues to stand beside families and child care providers on this journey, offering critical support and a steady reminder that they are not alone or left behind.
We witnessed firsthand the limited access to resources for those impacted. In response, CFC continues to strengthen partnerships and build a community network of care that catches families and providers who might otherwise fall through the cracks. With the help of our dedicated partners, CFC mobilized quickly when the wildfires struck our community. We established an emergency distribution site, delivered essential supplies, provided financial relief and wellness support, and worked to stabilize families and child care programs. Guided by partnership and purpose, we helped restore safe environments for children and brought relief to the caregivers who made recovery possible.
Our Impact Since January 2025
These numbers represent more than emergency aid. They reflect care in action. Behind every box, every stipend, and every package of supplies is a family beginning to rebuild and a provider reopening the doors of a child care site that once stood empty.
- $359,100 in cash stipends provided to families and child care providers whose homes or child care sites were damaged, destroyed, or within evacuation zones.
- 382 air purifiers, 286 boxes of gloves, 168 boxes of N95 masks, 300 pairs of goggles, 590 coveralls, 118 packs of diapers, 36 packs of wipes, and 93 care backpacks distributed to 76 families and 164 child care providers impacted by the wildfires.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to our partners who make this work possible: Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, Save the Children, California Community Foundation, Steins, Goldman Sachs, Ballmer Fire Aid Fund, Keck Foundation, Rhode Futures Foundation, The LA Partnership for Early Childhood Investment, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Baby2Baby, and Backpacks for Disasters.
